- This section lets you modify the specifications of the given server monitoring item.

- COMMANDS

- - URL: Host name or IP address of the server containing the service of interest.
- - Port: Enter the port number of the service to monitor.
- You may optionally follow it with a space character and a description of the port.
- - Description: Optional notes related to this item. For instance, you can enter an IP address
- in the URL field to avoid a DNS lookup each time, and enter the corresponding host name
- here to identify the IP.

- - Check every: Specify the monitoring frequency in minutes.
- - Attempts: Number of connection attempts prior to triggering the alerts.

- - OK: Save changes and exit.
- - Cancel: Ignore your changes and exit.
- - Apply: Apply changes made to items in this tab.
- - Help: Display this help screen.

- EXAMPLES

- (1) To monitor a web site and get notified when it stops working:

- - Enter the web site IP address in the URL field.
- - Select the http port from the port list.
- - Enter the host name in the description field (optional).
- - Press the OK button.
- - Review the notification settings in the Options dialog.

- (2) To monitor the Internet connection of this computer:

- - Same as above, using a service that suits your needs:
- - A service on your ISP's server: To be notified in case your connection to your ISP is lost.
- - Any remote and reliable service such as a popular web site: To be notified in case your
- connection or that of your ISP is lost.
